Adding eBook files to Kindle and Kindle App

After downloading a .mobi file from MillCreekBooks, there are three ways to add it to your Kindle library. It is recommended that you first try to
use Amazon's Send to Kindle desktop app. If that doesn't work, you can send files to your Kindle using your email or transfer the file with a USB

Send to Kindle App (from laptop/desktop computer)
Using your laptop or desktop computer (Windows or Mac), you can import the file to your Kindle device called Send to Kindle. It is an official
Amazon program that will quickly get mobi and pdf ebook files from your computer to your Amazon Kindle account.

  • Download the Send to Kindle program for your device.
  • Once you’ve downloaded the Send to Kindle program, open the program and follow the prompts to log in to your Amazon account.
  • Find the ebook file on your computer where you saved it (when you download a file, it is automatically sent to your “Downloads” folder unless you have picked a different default location for downloads or saved it elsewhere), and drag the file into the Send to Kindle program where it says “Drop files here”.
  • Choose which device you want to send your file to and click “Send”.
  • You should see a dialogue box that reads “Upload complete. Give us a few minutes to format and deliver your document. Please ensure your Kindle is connected to the network to receive your document. Select the “OK” button.
  • The book should appear in your Kindle library. If it doesn’t, select “Sync & Check for Items” and check if your book has arrived. This may take a few minutes. If you have a Kindle Fire, the book might be found in the “Docs” section, and the cover may not appear until you have opened the book.

Send From Your Email
If Send to Kindle doesn’t work for you, you may also send files directly to your Kindle device email.
  • Open your personal email on your computer, phone or device where you downloaded the ebook file, and attach the ebook file to your email.
  • Email file to your kindle email address (Kindle email address is your Amazon login ending with; for example, if your login to Amazon is, then your Kindle email address is 
  • Open the Kindle App on the ereader device. Click the Sync button, and wait a few minutes for it to sync, although it should happen right away.If you have a Kindle Fire, the book should appear in the “Docs” section on your Kindle. The cover may not show until you open the book for the first time.

Transfer with USB
If you are still unable to access your book, here is a step-by-step process on how to transfer documents from a desktop or laptop computer to any

  • Connect your ereader device with the appropriate USB cable. Plug the USB cable into your computer.
  • Locate the folder for your device under the “My Computer” folder on Windows. On a Mac, your device will show up in the sidebar of any “Finder” window under “Devices”.
  • You can drag your ebook files directly into the Device folder and the specific documents folder if one is required for your device OR you can copy and paste the file onto the device by right clicking (or ctrl-clicking if you’re using a mac) on the file and selecting “Copy” or “Copy file”, going into the Kindle’s Documents folder, right/ctrl-clicking in the empty space and selecting “Paste” or “Paste Item”.
